Japanese Auto Extravaganza 2000

Billing Aquadrome - Northampton

Sunday 30th July

Panoramic picture of 10 GTO's!

At last - I have the pictures up! Sorry it took so long, this last week has just been so hectic!

Anyway, as you can see, I managed to create a mosaic panoramic view above of the 10 GTO's we had lined up to start with (just click on the image to get a bigger picture, but beware, it's 156K!). We had about 13 GTO's turn up in all throughout the day, but some people missed the main line-up.

The weather was excellent and the convoy from the service station was out of this world - I don't know about anyone else but I just had a massive grin on my face from start to finish as I watched a line of GTO's in front and behind me snake their way around various roundabouts. We turned a lot of heads when we arrived on site and gave all those FTO's and EVO's a run for their money! :-)

I've got pictures of everyone's cars, but to be honest, one red GTO looks pretty much the same as any other, and the images are pretty big, so I am only going to include pictures of GTO's we've not seen before at a previous meeting. If your car isn't here and you would like a copy of the JPEG, please e-mail me with your registration number and I will e-mail it to you.

One interesting fact: every car was a Jap import (apart from Taj who has a US import) - there was not a single UK spec 3000GT. Makes me think that it's probably harder to get parts for a UK spec car rather than a Jap import, especially with all the import businesses springing up all over the place.

So, the event was packed, the sun was shining and we were in GTO heaven!!!!

First off we have the line-ups:

Simon Jones brought along his gorgeous blue GTO (those of you who know me will know I just lurve blue GTO's!!!!)...

And then we had Skanda with his burgundy mk1...

And a few GTO's we've not seen before (John Tan, Eric Calvert & Simon Leach) - see what I mean about red GTO's all looking the same? :-)...

Like I say, I have more pictures, but I don't have the room or bandwidth to upload them.

It just remains to thank everyone for turning up - I hope you all enjoyed it and found it useful chatting to other GTO owners. I would like to see if we could arrange another convoy sometime (this was the bit I enjoyed most!). Perhaps to a BBQ or beach (or even a beach BBQ!) or "event" of some sort. Let me know if you are interested.
